New Addiction Stats and New Clinical Staff at the Gracer Medical Group in San Ramon

An addiction treatment and pain management specialty practice announces new staff members and 1-year success statistics for the practice’s addiction treatment patients from San Ramon, Sacramento, Oakland and other Northern California communities.

SAN RAMON, CA, April, 2008 – The Gracer Medical Group has just completed an annual review of success rates in its addiction treatment programs, and is pleased to announce significant success through the use of its comprehensive treatment protocols.

Patients who came to the practice with methamphetamine, alcohol and cocaine addictions achieved a 1-year success rate of 75% through treatment with the PROMETA® protocol, which addresses the medical, nutritional, and psychosocial needs of people struggling with substance dependencies.

The 1-year success statistics for people who seek opiate addiction treatment at Gracer Medical Group are even higher – 85% of patients who completed outpatient treatment at the practice using Subutex (also known as buprenorphine) are addiction-free at the 1 year mark. Subutex is an FDA-approved outpatient treatment for addiction to narcotics (opiates), such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, methadone and morphine. It is used for San Ramon, Oakland and Northern California addiction treatment to prevent relapse and decrease withdrawal symptoms.

“The statistics from our practice illustrate very clearly that people can overcome substance addiction,” says Dr. Richard Gracer. “It is important to note that we are able to achieve such high success rates because we combine several treatment protocols. It’s about more than using medications to break the addiction – we must also treat any underlying disorders such as depression or bipolar syndrome and offer counseling through a carefully constructed support group environment.”

Part of the success patients are able to achieve at the Gracer Medical Group is due to the highly-qualified medical professionals who are devoted to innovative, effective approaches to pain management and addiction treatment for San Ramon, Oakland, Sacramento and other Northern California residents. The practice recently welcomed 2 new staff members, whose full biographies are available on the practice’s Web site (www.gracermedicalgroup.com).

Glen Taylor, MD, is certified by both the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has helped to develop chemical dependency programs for national healthcare providers and has served on boards and societies focused on addiction treatment and prevention. Dr. Taylor is a specialist with Gracer Behavioral Health Services.

Jeri Stegman, MA, RAS, has over 20 years of experience in providing behavioral health services. She has worked in an innovative, intensive outpatient program, successfully treating substance abuse patients with co-occurring mental health disorders. Ms. Stegman uses her wealth of addiction treatment experience to provide counseling services as part of a cutting edge team at the Gracer Medical Group.

“These medical professionals are at the top of their fields,” adds Dr. Gracer. “Our patients can count on being offered the latest treatment options from skilled professionals who have in-depth medical knowledge and who provide the personalized care needed to deliver effective results.”
