Gracer Medical Group uses both ozone therapy and hydrogen peroxide therapy, forms of bio-oxidative medicine, as an adjunct treatment for a number of conditions including:
In, bio-oxidative medicine, oxygen is introduced directly to the tissues of the body as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or ozone (O3).
Intravenous Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy
Replicating the Body’s Best Disease Fighting Defense
Hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, is a part of normal metabolism and is constantly produced by your body. It is part of the first line of defense in the immune system.
Certain white blood cells contain units called peroxisomes which produce H2O2. When these white cells come in contact with disease-causing bacteria or viruses, they engulf them, mixing them together with the peroxisomes. The H2O2 in the peroxisomes is broken down into water, or H2O, and a single oxygen atom of O-, also called an oxygen singlet. This singlet breaks away from the H2O2, binds with the bacteria or virus, and renders it harmless.
However, by the time you become aware that you have an infectious disease; this hydrogen peroxide defense mechanism has been overwhelmed by the number of viruses or bacteria in your body. The immune system has moved into its secondary line of defense-the tedious process of analyzing the invading organisms and creating specific antibodies against them.
The invention of man-made antibiotics, beginning in the 1930s, was a revolution in medical science, drastically cutting mortality and increasing life expectancy. Today, however, there are many bacteria that are increasingly resistant to antibiotics and many other organisms such as viruses are not affected by them. The best defense for infection is still your body’s own immune system.
What is intravenous hydrogen peroxide therapy? To boost your body’s supply of H2O2, a carefully controlled amount of pharmaceutical-grade hydrogen peroxide is infused into the circulatory system through an IV drip in the arm over about ninety minutes.
The results? A dramatic increase in immune activity and augmentation of the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
The H2O2 is broken down in the blood by the enzyme catalase into H2O and an oxygen , or O, singlet. The O singlet attaches to various proteins in the blood as well as to the walls of blood cells. This results in oxidation and the production of free radicals, stimulating the body’s antioxidant system to quickly quench these reactions, making the free radicals harmless. This also “turns on” the immune system. Studies have also shown an increase in blood flow and therefore better oxygenation of tissues.
