AA-Alcoholics Anonymous, a worldwide organization serving millions of alcoholics, dates back to the mid-1930s. The individual’s recovery journey centers around acceptance of their illness, increasing sense of spirituality, personal inventories of strengths and weaknesses, and connection to a supportive fellowship. A personal mentor called a “sponsor” helps members learn practical strategies to avoid drinking.
